Grafoam AB
Founders
Grafoam AB was established in 2022 but the two founders, Jan Nordin and Farid Akhtar, have been developing new solutions for concrete since 2007. The company develops new technical solutions for high-performance concrete (HPC), in close cooperation with customers. Production and development lab is located in Sundsvall. The company collaborates with Division of Material Science, Luleå University of Technology.
Jan Nordin
Founder
Jan has a PhD in inorganic chemistry, did a post doc on surface chemistry at UC Davis, before joining Akzo Nobel in 1999. He has more than 20 years of experience with product development, application development and international customer projects, including a 5-year project on frost resistant concrete with BASF and Master Builders in the US. Over the years, Jan has published 24 scientific papers, filed 20+ patent applications and tutored 20+ graduate projects.

Farid Akhtar
Founder
Farid is a professor at Luleå University of Technology, Division of Material Science. He has a PhD in Materials Science and Engineering and is experienced with traditional and engineering ceramics, building materials, energy and environmental applications. He is the author or co-author of more than 140 papers on Materials Science and Engineering (H-index 28) and 5 patent applications. He managed several innovations projects with local and international businesses like Nouryon, Höganäs, BuyIsotopes AB, Zoromat Inc., Oxymat A/S and Corning Inc.
