Center railings
In May 2024, Gunnar Prefab in Rättvik took the challenge to cast center railings reinforced with Arctic Shield technology. This was the first time we applied the technology at full scale. The center railings can now be observed along Skolhusallén in central Sundsvall. They have a nice darker, blue-gray shade compared to the reference center railings they are connected to. After two years the products show no visible effects from winter conditions.
Access ramps
In September 2025, these access ramps were produced with durable concrete reinforced by Arctic Shield technology. The products were cast by Gunnar Prefab in Rättvik and installed in October 2025 at the bus stop by the large roundabout at Gärdehov in Sundsvall. This is a part of Johannedalsvägen that is upgraded to NATO standard, as it links Sundsvall's port and logistics park with the E4/E14. After one year of heavy traffic, it is too soon to evaluate for any wear and fatigue.
Industrial floor
Together with Swerock and PEAB, we have cast a durable concrete slab with Arctic Shield technology. The slab was cast in September 2025 for the unloading site at the planing mill in Tunadal, on behalf of SCA Wood. The new technology will enable a longer lifespan and faster development towards climate-smart concrete. After a long and tough winter, the slab is still completely unaffected by >25-tonne trucks with studded tyres.
